Kenny Boyd, MA, HSM
President and CEO, McDonough District Hospital
Kenny Boyd has served as President/CEO of McDonough District Hospital (MDH) since July 25, 2011. In the past two years MDH has constructed an addition to Health Services Building II and is preparing for a more than $30 million addition to create a new emergency services area and renovate existing rooms to private patient rooms. Boyd came to MDH after serving five years as chief executive officer for the Girard Medical Center, a 35-bed critical access facility with five outlying clinics and a home health agency located in Girard, Kansas. Boyd’s 14 year healthcare career has included leadership positions at Dickenson Community Hospital in Clintwood, Virginia and Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. As a member of the Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) he also serves on the IHA Policy and Advocacy Committee and the IHA Small and Rural Hospital Steering Committee, Member. He is President-Elect of the YMCA of McDonough County Board, a member of the Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation Board, the Macomb Tuesday Rotary, and serves as the Chair of the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Development Corporation Government Relations Committee. Boyd received his master’s degree in health services management from Webster University in Jeffersonville, Indiana and his bachelor’s degree in political sciences with an emphasis in policy analysis from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He and his wife Nakina have one son Gavin and a daughter Karissa.
