Director, Health Facilities Planning, Advocate BroMenn Medical Center

I work with Advocate Health Care, the largest hospital system in Illinois with 12 hospitals in the Chicago and central Illinois area. I am the Director of Health Facilities Planning, a role focused on securing approval from the State for major projects. I have been with the earlier organizations (Mennonite Hospital and later BroMenn Healthcare) since 1973 in various clinical and administrative positions. I am based in Normal, IL, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center where I also lead government affairs and property management for BroMenn. I am a Board officer of the United Way of Illinois and Board member of the McLean Co. United Way. I am co-chair of the 2015 local community campaign, along with Scott Preston who is a member of the Normal Town Council. I was elected to the Normal Town Council in 1991 and served for 24 years. I became the Mayor Pro Tem the last 8 years. I decided not to seek re-election in 2015. I was active with the National League of Cities (NLC) most of those years, having served on its Board of Directors. I was chair of the Information Technology and Communications Steering Committee for the NLC. I am engaged in presenting my seminar called "Tips to Organize Your Records NOW, Before Others Need Them". This is a one-hour session to teach participants how to assemble all their critical records in a way that is easy to use and available to their family in an emergency or life change. The sessions are hosted by organizations for their members, or as a community service.
