Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability (HTI-1)
Update: December 2023 Understanding the Impact of health IT

In this session, we will examine recent changes to the Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability standards, commonly referred to as HTI-1, implemented in December 2023.

These revisions continue the rollout of the 21st Century Cures Act, a landmark law established in 2016, designed to overhaul our healthcare framework significantly.

The 21st Century Cures Act represents a critical advancement in updating our healthcare systems, aiming to accelerate the creation and spread of medical innovations to improve healthcare provision both rapidly and effectively.

A primary goal of the Act is to enhance how patients access their health records, shifting towards a more patient-focused healthcare system.

Moreover, the Act emphasizes the need for interoperability among health information systems. It aims to ensure different health IT systems and applications work together flawlessly, enhancing the ease of sharing, utilizing, and exchanging information.

Another important focus of the Act is the secure management and utilization of electronic health information. As we move further into a digital era, it’s crucial to secure sensitive health data while making it available for enhancing healthcare services.

Additionally, the Act supports technological innovation in the healthcare sector, setting the stage for groundbreaking tools and systems that dramatically alter the provision of healthcare.

We invite you to participate in this discussion as we analyze these updates and their potential impact on the future of healthcare technology.
