Full Biography
Julie is an Associate Scientist and the Deputy Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funded County Health Rankings & Roadmaps Program at the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. She has worked with numerous partners across the nation to use the County Health Rankings & Roadmaps tools to take action to improve the health of communities. Her research interests focus in the area of quality of community health improvement planning processes. Prior to joining the Institute in 2009, Julie worked in local public health for 21 years as a public health nurse, director of nursing, and for the last 8 years, as Marathon County’s (WI) Health Officer. She also served on the Aspirus Wausau Hospital Board of Directors and as an elected member of the Wausau School District School Board. Julie holds a PhD in nursing with an emphasis in public health leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is a graduate of the Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Executive Fellows Program and the National Public Health Leadership Institute.
